Details

In this intensive Yoga Alliance registered program, you learn to teach a holistic class to meet children’s unique physical, emotional, and social needs.

Classes incorporate yoga and mindfulness activities that help youth—from preschool through high school—connect to themselves and their community; develop focus and concentration; find strength, balance, and confidence; recognize and regulate emotions; build resilience; and learn to nurture themselves.

Explore the challenges of teaching in schools, studios, and community spaces. Gain a greater understanding of the relationship between the brain, nervous system, and body, and how yoga and mindfulness can support effective integration and function. Gain information about how to set up new classes, navigate relationships with schools, manage challenging behavior, serve the needs of diverse populations, teach from a trauma-informed perspective, create an effective curriculum, and more.

This week-long immersion combines all three levels of the Little Flower Yoga certification program for a deeply empowering experience, rich with opportunities for your own personal practice.

This course includes access to 3 hours of webinar content pre-training and 10 hours of webinar content post-training, including a 6-hour course exploring sharing yoga and mindfulness with children with special needs taught by occupational therapist Allison Morgan.

You will leave this training with a deeper understanding of child development, the capacity and confidence to create lesson plans that meet children’s needs, and the knowledge to teach in a safe, engaging, and compassionate way.

We welcome all participants who are interested in sharing the life skills of yoga and mindfulness with children and teens. You do not have to be a yoga instructor, or advanced practitioner, although some basic yoga experience is recommended. If you would like to discuss whether this training is appropriate for your experience and needs, please be in touch any time.

Listed tuition does not include room and board at Omega. Materials fee listed is for training manuals only. All other required and recommended reading books are to be purchased on your own. Many will be available at the Omega bookstore on-site.
